Book Review: Heart of Bullets by Nikhil Kushwaha

First Impression:
The first impression of this book was quite good.  A relatable cover, interesting blurb, the book has all the ingredients to attract any reader to at least give a shot to this one. With approx. 300 pages it seems quite a long story.
Review:
It’s a story of soldier Arpan who narrates his story..story of brotherhood & heroism, the story of love & betrayal, story that is full of philosophical lessons about life.
The protagonist and his childhood best buddy Sameer are in intelligence department of Indian Army. There comes a girl in their lives back in school days. Shraddha, they both fall for her but she chooses Sam aka Sameer and at the end, Arpan becomes a one sided lover and pretends to be happy for his best friend’s happiness.
This author has tried to portray the actual truth about Indian soldiers and their lives, teenage love story and at some point, he also tries to give some lesson about the betterment of life.
Nikhil Kushwaha seems to be a lover of poetries and he shows it quite well. He also includes some quotes which could be placed more constructively because at some point those quotes didn’t make any sense rather than confusing the reader.
At some point, the story seems as if it lost its pace and feels boring but the guessing game of finding the reason behind the breakup of Sam and Shraddha makes the reader stick with the story till the end.

Positive:
·      A different and interesting tale described beautifully.
·      Poetries are really worth appreciation.
·      Author has tried to bind the readers with the story through his simple narrative style.

Negative:
·      It’s a humble request to the author that not to waste your hard work and money on such publisher who can’t even provide a quality editing. It only spoils your work and nothing else.
·      Grammatical errors make the storyline dull at some point.
·      In a try to give some lessons about life in the starting of every chapter, the author has failed to keep the pace of the story.
·      Quotes could be used more wisely and at the right places.

Verdict:
“Heart of Bullets” is a story of heroism, love, friendship, betrayal, many more emotions. So if you want to read or just want to get an idea what Indian Army Actually does along with a twisting tale of love then I recommend you to give this book a shot.
