Book Review: Yama by Kevin Missal

Yama by Kevin Missal

I got this book from the author himself in a favor of an honest review. Thanks for the lovely message, though.
First Impression:
Firs impression of this book was quite good. With an appealing and attractive book cover it actually attracts the reader to give it a shot.
Review:
It is a Crime thriller based on the theme of a mythological character ‘Yama’. Protagonist Irvaan who is an ex-army who now works for a private detective agency gets a letter and later the missing case of Mr. Galgotia, a realtor based in Gurgaon. But, before he couldn’t save him.
Story continues with a gripping pace when Irvaan finds some other hidden secrets behind Mr. Galgotia, organ trafficking, murderer’s way of killing according to Hindu mythology. At some points story made me confused due to the hotchpotch of protagonist’s personal life, scenes of organ trafficking and then Yama’s way of killing all the faulty people.
Though, the author has tried his best to keep the story interesting and fast paced and at some point of time it actually thrilled me. The story has a strong message to the society that both hell and heaven lies on the earth and it only depends on us and our deeds that what we deserve, hell or heaven?
At some point, Yama’s way giving death sentences resembles with a South Indian movie which was quite weird.
Positive:
·       Story was thrilling, interesting and fast paced.
·       Author has tried to keep it simple and thrilling which is quite appreciable.
·       Characterization is quite crisp, short and interesting which paced the whole story.
·       Language was simple and easy to understand.

Negative:
·       Lack of editing at some points.
·       Short chapters were seemed quite annoying to me.
·       Dialogues can be written in a better way.

Verdict:
All in all, Yama is a modern tale with some mythological intersection which thrills us in any way. With a crisp and fast paced narration it becomes a quick read. So I think if you want to get a quick thrill then you must give a shot to Yama. Available on all major online stores. So, grab it soon.
