Book Review: Let The Game Begin by Sandeep Sharma

Book Review: Let The Game Begin

First Impression:
Well, this book impressed me in every way whether it’s interesting blurb or the book cover. It’s a kind of book which increases the curiosity of readers to finish it in one go.

Review:
‘Let the Game Begin’ is the next promising title from Mr. Sandeep Sharma after a big hit of ‘Hey Dad Meet My Mom’. A historical thriller as they say. The story is based on the game of chess which has the connection with the history. The story starts with the murder of a struggling actor who gets murdered in a strange way where the murderer left a chess piece with a note written in an ancient language. With this murder, there follow some other murders in the same pattern but when it comes to the security of PM, the secret security agency CLAW gets involved.
Story paced with the same speed of curiosity, twists, and turns, the involvement of historical characters in the case. What I like the most is the way of characterization done by the author. Even after so many twists and past’s story of conspiracy, the author has portrayed every character with the same ease which doesn’t create any mess. Characters of inspector Surya, Officer Pratham, Priya, Dinesh and most importantly ‘The chess killer’, each one of them has characterized in an amazing manner.
What a reader expects from a thriller book is lots of suspense, drama, thrill, chilling moments, twist and turns and an awestruck end. Sandeep Sharma in his first attempt has successfully put them all in the whole story. Page by page, scene by scene it took me on a roller coaster ride of past and present with such a grip that I sometimes tried to pull my hair (haha!). Kudos to the author for keeping the language simple and story on the track even after so much twists.

Positive:
·         Simple language, easy to read.
·         Interesting story plot.
·         Better Characterization of all the characters in a very balanced way.
·         Author has successfully kept the pace of story same from start to end with such a gripping story-line.
Negative:
It is the first book I tried hard to find any negative points. If we ignore two three typos then I must say this book is absolutely error free and this credit should be given to the editor.

Verdict:
‘Let the Game Begin’ is a kind of historical thriller which a true bookaholic doesn’t want to miss. A true entertainer book in every sense. Author has put all his effort into making it a unique thriller and it does show in the book. So, if you want to get thrilled and want to know how the game of chess could be so brutal?
