Review: The Plight of The Pilgrim

It is an e-book containing 12 short stories, which solely composed and edited by Biswadeep Ghosh Hazra. It is his first eBook including all his published and unpublished short stories but it does not seem in the narration style that he is a newbie. Every story has narrated with a new ting of narration style, catchy language and interesting story plots. So, here are the following short stories:
1.       Freak Show: As the title suggested, it is a horror story where a boy Sameer coincidently found a guy named Rik’s profile on facebook who found dead. The main thrill started when that deadguy messaged Sameer and scared the shit out of him by revealing some untold secrets about him. Story is quite freaky, spine chilling, interesting and justifies the title as well.
2.       Mother’s Day:  This story is all about the unconditional love between a daughter and mother. Jonaki(daughter) is finally going to meet her mother Shiuli, who is in rehabilitation center due to her drug addiction. Story shows that it doesn’t matter whether Shiuli is wrong and convicted in some charges, Jonaki’s love for her is pure and unconditional that’s why she  want to see her mother happy anyhow. It is a very heart touching story with a very sweet end.
3.       Lovelorn:  This story is narrated in a very high-tech language so the starting was totally bouncer for me but as the story goes on the picture gets clear. This story is about a failed writer cum theatre scriptwriter who overcomes from his downfall. This story actually gave a lesson that no matter what happen, at the end of the day everything will gonna be alright.
4.       Choice: In everyone’s a time come where he/she has to make a choice for their sake and this story is all about making choices in life. Bhagyashree, who is a trick artist, met Pamela who makes an offer for her to come with her for a new job, which she rejected due to her mother. Later some days she comes to know that the girl who was offering a good job was actually a human trafficker and then she thanked herself for making a good choice otherwise that other girl could be she.
5.       Appu: This story is about the bond between human and his pet. Appu(monkey) was gifted to Sahil when he was a child by his father. They grew up together in a dump yard. His father was killed by a snake, so his mother Komal brought them up together but on his birthday his mother also killed by a snake. He then lefts the dump yard and come to town with Appu to make fed themselves. Story takes the twist when the life brought Sahil in the same circumstances where a snake killed Appu.
6.       Libido: It’s a story about a suicide bomber who brainwashed for a blast at a place full of people. The story showed that terrorists too are human and they also love someone. That suicide bomber try to change the plan when he comes to know that his girlfriend is also there where he is going to blast off but somehow the he gets failed and blast himself with so many people around him. Story is actually very interesting with an amazing story plot.
7.       The White Calf: This St ory has narrated in the same way I want to tell my story to my son (laughs). Well, this story is narrated in a very pleasant manner and depict the bonding between a family and their unpleasant past. The story plot is too good to describe.
8.       Jaded Dreams: This was total bouncer for me at starting so didn’t paid much heed in reading it but when I read the end it again send chills through  my spine and it automatically forced me to read it again.
9.       Time:  This story describes different perspectives of Time for different people and is actually makes sense in every perspective. Time has its own value in every perspective that’s all the author wants to tell through this story.
10.   The Crimson Diaries: This a crime thriller story in which a lady killed by a serial killer without any reason. This story plot is amusing and would surely left the readers jaw dropped. Because this story has that kind of twist and turns.
11.   Vridhashram: This story actually has the story plot based on a bitter truth of today’s generation that how they throw their parents in an old age home and forgets the that one day they could face the same scenario with themselves when their children threw them in another old age home same like they had thrown their parents.
12.   Victor: It is a story of Survivor who had survived from Sahara Desert’s extreme conditions. This story shows that hope in god can give you a strength to face any problem in your life.
Positive:
·      Every story has its own kind of storyline and narration style.
·      Every story left the reader surprised with an unexpected end and various twists.
 Negative:
·      Language is little high tech and reader struggled at some points to connect himself with the story.

MY Verdict:
These stories have written in a way to give you surprises one after another. What a narration style! What the selection of story plots! Author has lots of power to create a magic through his words. I bet you that you will surely gonna love these pieces of art. So, what are you waiting for? Go and grab your kindle edition through amazon.
