First of all a congratulations to Dr. Jas Kohli for his debut Novel. ‘Anything to Look Hot’ is a story based on real life events. It's a life journey of a plastic surgeon Dr. Dhruv Khanna who narrates the whole story about him that how he faces various situations in the field of plastic surgery. The story starts with Dr. Dhruv’s clearing M.Ch (Master of Chirurgiae) exam and his starting journey as a resident doctor in Arogyam Hospital under the supervision of Dr. Vidur (Chief of Plastic Surgery Department). The story is keep rolling steadily when Nandini comes in his life and they get married. However, they are from different societies but they didn’t face any hurdle in their marriage. After some time Nandini gets admission to complete her M.D whereas Dhruv Moves to Mumbai, the city of dreams and stardom.
Authors try to keep a pace of the story with Characters of Chitra, Shagun, and Murari but after a point of time and few pages story starts losing its
grip and the reader feels disconnected. Though the author has tried to put some humor in the storyline. He also discusses how actors and actresses sometimes throw tantrums while sometimes stay over- friendly for some other reasons. As a Surgeon, Dr. Jas has tried to clear many myths regarding the surgery.
Positive:
· Narration style is simple and easy to read.
· A different kind of story plot which attracts any reader to give it a shot
· Author has revealed many secrets about the actors and actresses that how they show their wild desire to get their body reshaped.
Negative:
· Story is all about plastic surgery so it seems like some kind of medical terminology book more than a fiction book. A reader faced an awkward situation to connect himself with the characters and storyline.
· There are no twists and turns that I felt should be put by the author to bind its reader with the book.
My Verdict:
Overall Dr. Jas Kohli has come up with a unique and fresh story. The cover is also attractive that makes this book a fast pickup.
